Ish Matzliach was started by our Rav, Rabbi Yehoshua Kaykov, who has led the shul for many years — and everything he does for it is leshem Shamayim. Nobody asks him to do it, and nobody pays him. From Shacharit every morning to shiurim throughout the week, hours of preparation go into each and every class — all out of love for Hashem, His Torah, and the members of this community.
The Rav makes himself available at all hours — it can feel as if he has more hours in the day than the rest of us — and anyone can ask halachic questions openly in the WhatsApp group he created. Chazal teach: aseh lecha rav — make for yourself a teacher. Our weekly sweepstakes exists so this house of learning can keep its doors open, without asking the same families for the same donations again and again.
